As 2014 comes to a close and 2015 is looming ahead, Machel Montano, the reigning Soca Monarch and Road March King of Trinidad & Tobago, is busy in studio working on his 2015 releases. The first one out of the Baby Monster studio, officially premiered on – Remedy – is already creating waves of excitement on the internet, radio stations and all over social media.

Meanwhile, the music world is buzzing with Machel’s name as he is being nominated for numerous awards.

First came the news that he is nominated in the Best International Performance for Ministry of the Road (M.O.R.) at the Soul Train Awards, to be held in Las Vegas on November 7th. This is Machel’s third year of being nominated for the Soul Train Awards (2011, 2013 and 2014). He has launched an online campaign to encourage all his fans to vote as these are People’s Choice Awards so the fans are in charge:

Just last week, Machel was notified of being added to the first round ballot of the 2015 Grammy® Awards. The Grammy® first-round ballot is the first step towards a possible nomination. This is not the first time Machel’s music has reached the ears of the Recording Academy. Again, it’s his third year (2012, 2013 and 2014). This year he is on the first round ballot for three categories.

“Under consideration this year is “Can’t Let Go”, Machel Montano’s duet with the legendary Boyz II Men. He will be competing for the voter’s attention in the Best R & B Performance category against tracks such as Beyonce and Jay Z’s “Drunk In Love” , “Loyal” by Chris Brown featuring Lil Wayne & French Montano, and tracks from Pharrell Williams, Usher and many others. In the Best Music Video category, Machel’s “M.O.R. (Ministry of Road)” video will be considered against videos from Iggy Azalea, Lana Del Rey, Imagine Dragons, Keiza to name a few. Both tracks are taken from the album Happiest Man Alive which has been placed in the Best Urban Contemporary Album Category.”

And not to be outdone, the newly created “Indies Live Music Awards” in the Caribbean have Machel nominated in four categories:

1. Best International Ambassador
2. Best Male Artiste
3. Best Live Performance
4. Best Song of the Year: EPIC

The Indies Live Music Awards takes place on November 27th 2014 in Guadeloupe and it is also a People’s Choice, so we are asking the fans to vote.

This month of November is Machel’s birth month and as he reaches a milestone in age, he will celebrate in 2015 his 33rd year in the music business. A number of events are being planned to celebrate these milestones with him and to give back to his fans. The first such event is an exhibition displaying a collection of his cultural artifacts of over three decades. His co-manager commented: “It is important to preserve our culture and our heritage. This exhibition will create nostalgia for the fans over the years and an education for the young ones. Our visitors to Trinidad and Tobago will get a lesson in our history”.

Congratulations to Machel Jesus Montano!
